Hair Stories: Tom’s Journey with PRP Hair Restoration

Discover Tom’s treatment plan for thicker, healthier hair.

What is PRP? PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma and it comes from your own body. PRP is the component that we get from drawing a vial of blood, then spinning it in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the plasma. Plasma is rich in collagen and growth factors that we utilize to do an array of things like promote hair growth, help hollowness and discoloration under the eyes, or help heal acne scarring.

When it comes to PRP Hair Restoration, clients typically receive the best results when there's noticeable hair thinning.  It is important to note this treatment is not the best solution for anyone who is entirely bald. Active follicles are needed in order for us to stimulate growth with this treatment.

In preparation for the PRP treatment, we ask clients to properly hydrate the day before to make the blood draw easier and so that the treatment is more comfortable. The treatment itself requires us to inject PRP into the entire scalp, while concentrating on adding additional PRP to the areas where thinning is most visible.

At Ever/Body we typically recommend four to six initial sessions, each spaced four to six weeks apart. We also suggest maintenance sessions every six to twelve months depending on the results and the client's personal hair growth goals.

Keravive by HydraFacial (basically a facial for your scalp) cleanses the scalp and stimulates hair growth by opening the channels for new strands of hair to grow. We recommend receiving Keravive a few weeks before your PRP treatment session. To take your hair care routine to the next level we can also talk about adding a powerful prescription strength product.

Tom decided to jump into the world of PRP Hair Restoration about 1 year ago and has seen amazing results. Here is a bit about his journey with PRP:

What made you want to try PRP Hair Restoration?

In the spring of 2021 I took some photos with my partner and realized that my receding hairline was accelerating. I had never done any treatments to try to stop it, so I decided I wanted to try something, preferably non-surgical, to improve it. Plasma Hair Restoration was on my list of things to try.

How long did the treatment take? What did it feel like?

It was overall a very fast service, but I'd be lying if I were to say it was pain-free. The pain was there, but didn't last long since it was such a fast procedure. The staff at Ever/Body were also pros at drawing my blood and doing the injections so I never felt nervous.

I also laughed with my partner and friends afterwards describing how ridiculous it is to take out my own blood and inject it back into my scalp, but we were excited to see what the results would be!

How long until you started seeing results?

Unfortunately, my hair grows slowly - BUT, it grows! I noticed that my hair was thicker around my hairline about 5-6 months after the services. I remember there was one morning I got out of the shower and looked in the mirror and realized the area above my temples wasn't the size of a football field anymore!

Have you noticed changes in your hair growth since completing your initial treatments?

This made a huge difference when I looked in the mirror and my general confidence. My weekly barber also noticed a difference and gave me a better haircut to fit my new hairline. Overall, since doing my initial PRP session there is a clear difference in hair growth, and I am looking forward to booking my maintenance sessions in a few months time.
